Copart Announces Filing of Answer to Patent Infringement Claim; Asserts Counterclaims Against Manheim
FAIRFIELD, Calif.--Aug. 10, 2005--Copart, Inc. today announced that it filed an answer denying the claims set forth in the previously announced complaint filed by Manheim Services Corp. (Manheim) alleging that Copart online auction services infringe on a certain patent claimed to be owned by Manheim. In addition to its answer, Copart asserted various affirmative defenses and made counterclaims against Manheim, including counterclaims seeking declarations of patent non-infringement, invalidity, and unenforceability. Copart also included counterclaims intended to address Manheim's violations of the U.S. antitrust laws under the Sherman Act.
