Brainerd, Minn. (August 10, 2005) ­
 
* Cruz Pedregon, driver of the Advance AutoParts team, heads to Brainerd
this weekend to compete in the 24th annualNHRA Nationals. The 1992 Funny Car
champion and his Advance Auto PartsNitro Funny Car are looking forward the
16th race of the NHRA POWERadeDrag Racing Series schedule at Brainerd
International Raceway.
 
* Cruz Pedregon, el piloto de Advance AutoParts, se dirige este fin de
semana a Brainerd para participar en el 24avocampeonato anual de los NHRA
Nationals. El campeón de Funny Car del 1992 ysu auto Advance Auto Parts
Nitro Funny Car estan ansiosos por competir enel Brainerd International
Raceway durante la 16ava carrera de laNHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series.
 
* It was 1992 in Brainerd, when Pedregon started a string of five-straight
victories that swept him to his first ever World Championship. Pedregon was
No. 1 qualifier at Brainerd track in 92¹, 93¹ and 98¹, finishing runner-up
in 1993.

        ³This team has the potential to have another winning streak like
that one again,² Pedregon said. ³The
        Advance Auto Parts car is running well and we are aiming for
consistency during qualifying and on race
        day. We want to make every qualifying round count and take advantage
of every chance we have to
        get down the track. It¹ll carry on into race day.²

*  En el 1992 en Brainerd, Pedregon consiguió la primera de cinco victorias
seguidas que lo llevaron a ganar su primer Campeonato Mundial. Pedregón se

* This weekend¹s 24th annual NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International
Raceway is considered the start of the final stretch run. There are still
eight races left, but this seems to be the place where many teams really
want to build momentum.

        ³We¹re expecting some cool weather for this weekend,² Pedregon
explained. ³My team will focus on
        tuning the car for whichever climatic and track conditions we
encounter. Then, it is up to me to make
        solid runs.²

* La 24ava competición anual de los NHRA Nationals en Brainerd International
Raceway este fin de semana, se considera el principio del último tramo de
competición. Todavía quedan ocho carreras, pero

* So far this 2005 season, Pedregon made it tothe semifinals at Pomona,
scored a runner up at Houston Raceway Park andreached the semi¹s during the
next four races. Following a number onequalifier in Englishtown N.J. and a
quarterfinal finish in Madison, Ill.,Pedregon heads to Brainerd
International Raceway eighth in NHRA NitroFunny Car points with 778.
