*      Nextel Wake-Up Call
On Friday, August 12, at 11 a.m., the Nextel Wake-Up Call will host Ron Fellows, Scott Pruett and Boris Said. The 'Road Course Aces' will be available for questions by media in attendance. Breakfast will be served at 9:30 a.m. in the media center.
*      Nextel Leader Bonus         $10,000
After winning last weekend at the Brickyard and taking over the points lead, Tony Stewart will receive the $90,000 Nextel Leader Bonus.
With the amount beginning again at $10,000, Tony Stewart and the No. 20 crew are eligible for the $10,000 prize if they maintain the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup points lead and win at Watkins Glen, a track that Stewart dominated in 2004.

* Sprint and Nextel Communications Expect to Close Merger on Aug. 12, 2005

Sprint and Nextel Communications Inc. today announced that they intend to close their proposed merger on Friday, Aug. 12, 2005. The companies have received all required regulatory approvals for the merger. 
 
The proposed merger-of-equals between Sprint and Nextel was announced on Dec. 15, 2004 with a commitment to create Sprint Nextel -- a leading communications provider that will offer a comprehensive range of innovative wireless and wireline products and services to consumer, business and government customers. After the completion of the merger, Sprint Nextel common stock will begin trading on Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol "S."
