MEXICAN ROAD RACING STAR GOETERS BACK IN #32 AT WATKINS GLEN
MOORESVILLE, NC (August 9, 2005) – Mexico City native Jorge Goeters will be
back behind the wheel of the #32 Braun Racing Chevrolet for this weekend’s
Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International. Goeters and 42 other drivers will take
the green flag on Saturday to compete in the first NASCAR Busch Series event
held at Watkins Glen since 2001.
“I am very excited to be back in the #32 Braun Racing car for the race at
Watkins Glen,?? Jorge said. “I learned so much about the car when I drove it a
few weeks ago at Pikes Peak. Every chance that I have to make laps in a Busch
car allows me to gain the experience that I need to get faster. These cars
are very different from the stock cars that I drive in Mexico, so I am
learning all the time.??
Although the Braun Racing team did not travel to Watkins Glen for the August
1 & 2 test session, Goeters made laps around the track in the #66 Brewco
Motorsports car and assisted driver Greg Biffle.
“Brewco Motorsports allowed me the opportunity to test with them a few weeks
ago at Watkins Glen, and I have been asked to compete in the Grand Am race
on Friday before the Busch Series event, so I will be very familiar with the
track before the race,?? Jorge explained. “The Braun Racing team has been
great to work with and I think that together we will be a threat to win this
weekend.??
Goeters, who received international attention earlier this year when he
captured the pole and led 24 laps in the inaugural NASCAR Busch Series race in
Mexico City, will pilot the #32 Canel’s / Scotiabank Inverlat Chevrolet for
Mooresville, NC based Braun Racing.
“Since the race in Mexico earlier this year, I have been looking forward to
competing in another NASCAR Busch Series road race,?? Goeters said. “I
experienced a tremendous amount of success with the #66 Brewco team in Mexico, and
I am looking forward to having the opportunity to drive the #32 Braun Racing
car at Watkins Glen. I hope to be able to capture another pole position and
to lead laps, but this time I really want to win the race. I know that Braun
Racing has a very good road course car prepared for me and the team did well
in Mexico finishing fourth, so hopefully we will have a very successful
weekend that ends in victory lane.??
Don’t miss any of the action as the NASCAR Busch Series returns to Watkins
Glen International for the first time since 2001. Mexican road racing star
Jorge Goeters will be back behind the wheel of the #32 Braun Racing Chevrolet
looking to build on the success that he had at the beginning of the season in
the first road course event in Mexico. Live coverage of the Zippo 200 begins
this Saturday, August 13 at 2:00 p.m. ET on NBC.
