Grand Prix of Denver Adds to 2005 Action Sports Line-Up

DENVER, Aug. 9, 2005 -- The CENTRIX Financial Grand Prix of Denver presented by PacifiCare announced today that it has added several action sports elements to the three-day street festival surrounding Pepsi Center. The popularity of last year's motocross expo and the skateboard demonstrations prompted race organizers to seek out new elements like ski jumpers, stunt motorcycles and more to keep the crowd on their feet throughout the weekend.

"Denver is a city full of thrill seekers," according to Grand Prix general manager, Jim Freudenberg. "And thrills are what fans are going to get -- both on and off the racetrack -- at this weekend's Grand Prix of Denver. Last year we brought in the action sports for the first time and the feedback we got was that race-goers wanted more, so there was no question we needed to expand it this year."

The 2005 Grand Prix of Denver action sports will perform trackside throughout race weekend.

The Boost Mobile FreestyleMx.com Demo

Featuring take-off and landing ramps set 75 feet apart, riders will attack the jumps on their 250cc motorcycles. Special guest riders include Metal Mulisha's Derek Garland, Jim "The Real Deal" McNeil and Jeremy Lusk.

Bam Margera at the Mazda Extreme Street Event

Bam Margera, rebel icon, skateboarder and star of MTV's Viva la Bam, will make appearances throughout race weekend including an autograph session at the Mazda Extreme tuner car expo on Saturday, August 13 from 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Also, look for Bam to tear it up at the CYTOMAX skate park inside the race circuit.

2005 AIRO Skateboard Team

CYTOMAX will have a full street skate park, skating demonstrations and daily appearances by top amateur and professional skateboarders, featuring the 2005 AIRO Skateboard Team with Top World-Am and Colorado native Kody Wright.

Extreme Ski Jumping

A team of World Class skiers -- including former US Ski Team members -- and snowboarders will bring flips, twists and spins to the Pepsi Center grounds.

Team Go-Ped

The best motorized scooter riders in the world hit an eight-foot ramp and clear a distance of thirty feet. This show promises to be something you have never seen before and is not to be missed.
