Terry Borcheller - Watkins Glen preview

Rolex and NASCAR

Terry Borcheller is hoping to meet some new fans as the Rolex Sports Car
Series and NASCAR Nextel Cup join forces for a power-packed race weekend at
Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International. Borcheller, of Gainesville, Ga., and Ralf
Kelleners of Dusseldorf, Germany, will drive the No. 54 Bell
Motorsports/Feeds the Need Pontiac-powered Doran JE4 in the Rolex Series
race on Friday evening, Aug. 12, giving NASCAR fans a taste of sports-car
racing.

"It's great to be there with NASCAR. It should bring a lot of press and
exposure to our series and our sponsors," Borcheller said. "The Rolex Series
promises to be a great race for NASCAR fans to enjoy – guaranteed!"

bright vision

The Rolex Series race will start at 6 pm, so drivers will have to contend
with the setting sun. Borcheller will be prepared with a dark visor and a
"sun strip" on his Bell helmet.

"It's a very challenging time to race because you're dealing with elements
you normally don't deal with – you're either getting the sun in your face or
in the mirror," he explained. "You have to be prepared. I had the wrong
visor at Homestead [Motor Speedway, in March] and it cost us some positions.
I was totally consumed with being able to see as opposed to driving the car,
so it was a big problem. I learned my lesson; I'll be ready."

coach kudos

When Borcheller isn't racing, he's often coaching other drivers. One of his
students, Dallas racer John Krieg, wrapped his second full season in the
Ferrari Challenge Series last weekend with a fourth-place finish, his best
to date. Congratulations from coach to Krieg!
