FREMONT RACER GILLIGAN LEADS NHRA LUCAS OIL SERIES QUALIFYING AT 

NEBRASKA MOTORPLEX

            SCRIBNER, Neb. - In the initial rounds of qualifying at Nebraska
Motorplex's Miller Lite Summer Sizzle, a round of the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag
Racing Series, Nebraska racers are blazing the trail.  

Fremont's Tom Gilligan heads the Sportsman Motorcycle class, just ahead of
Omaha's Curtis Spracklin.  Joe Herron, also of Fremont, is qualified No. 5.
Grand Island, Neb., racer Larry Schmidt is the top qualifier in Super Stock.
In Comp Eliminator, Clint Sallee of Glendive, Mont., is No. 1 along with
Terry Lacy of McPherson, Kan., in Stock Eliminator.

Racing continues Saturday at Nebraska Motorplex.  Gates open at 7 a.m. and
final qualifying and time trials continue at 8 a.m.  Top Alcohol Dragster
and Top Alcohol Funny Car will have three qualifying sessions, at noon, 4
and 8 p.m.  The Miller Lite Night of Flames Jet Car Exhibition is slated for
6:16, 8:30 and 

10 p.m.

Eliminations start Sunday at 8 a.m.  Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol
Funny Car will run first round of eliminations at noon.

Tickets are $20 each day.  Children 12 and under are admitted free with a
paid adult.  Nebraska Motorplex is located on Raceway Road just south of
