Electro Energy Technical Paper Published July 2005 in 'SAE 2004 Transactions Journal of Aerospace'
Paper on 'Pulse Power' of BiPolar NiMH Battery Named One of 'Most Outstanding Papers of 2004' by Society of Automotive Engineers
DANBURY, Conn., Aug. 3 -- Electro Energy Inc. , a developer and manufacturer of advanced rechargeable batteries, is pleased to announce that a technical paper authored by the Company's founder and CEO Martin G. Klein, together with Michael D. Eskra, former COO, and Robert F. Plivelich, Senior Chemical Engineer, has been published in SAE 2004 Transactions Journal of Aerospace, July 2005.
It was judged by a panel of engineering experts as one of the most outstanding SAE technical papers of 2004. SAE Transactions publishes authoritative and in-depth technical research in the automotive and aerospace engineering fields.
The paper, titled "Pulse Power 350 V Nickel Metal Hydride Battery," describes a battery module designed to deliver 50 kW pulses of 10 seconds duration at 50% state of charge. Details of the mechanical design of the module are depicted, and the results of initial electrical characterization testing are presented. Some discussion of the possibilities for design optimization is also included.
Martin Klein, CEO of Electro Energy Inc., said, "We are very proud to receive this high recognition from our peers. Deep scientific knowledge is helping to drive the Company's innovative battery technologies to serve ever more diverse markets, and we are pleased to share this knowledge with other leaders in the automotive and aerospace engineering fields."
Mr. Klein has over 40 years of experience in the advanced battery field. Prior to founding Electro Energy, he was one of the founding principals of Energy Research Corp., now Fuel Cell Energy. He has developed and worked on several battery chemistries and fuel cell systems, and holds more than 15 patents in the field of advanced electrochemical systems. He has contributed toward many of the fundamental reference books on the subject and has authored numerous technical papers.
