Sprint Cars, Demo Derby and More at SSP on Thursday
NEWBERRYTOWN, PA (August 1, 2005) – This Thursday night, August 4, the
Susquehanna Speedway Park will feature the Sprint Cars along with the Xtreme
Stock Cars, XSC Rookie Rumble, Penn Mar Vintage Club Tour, a Mini Van Flag
Pole Race presented by the York Springs Auto Auction and the Smashmasters
Demolition Derby. If needed, a rain date for this event will be announced.
The SSP Sprint Car point championship continues to get closer as Salfordville
’s Fred Rahmer closed within 7 points of season long leader Greg Hodnett of
Memphis, TN. Lance Dewease remains in third place and also continues to
close in on the top two spots. Blaine Heimbach and Jason Johnson of Eunice, LA,
are in fourth and fifth places respectively.
Larry Hughes, Jr. of York Haven won for the third time this season in last
Sunday’s Xtreme Stock Car feature event. Michael Goodwin of Wellsville
continues to lead over last season’s champion, Charlie Pensinger of Shippensburg.
Bryon Sipe, Daryl Beakler and Karl Windish rounds\ out the top five. The
Xtreme Stock Car drivers eligible for the double purse money Pepsi bonus are
Hughes, Sam Rial, Matt Wampler, Goodwin and Sipe. These drivers will
automatically start at the rear of the feature event, and if any or all of these
drivers make it into the top five finishing spots, then that driver will receive
double purse money for that position. These drivers will also compete in
the 4-lap Pepsi Challenge Dash paying $50.00 to the winner.
Gates open in the pit area and grandstands at 5:00 p.m. Warm-ups begin at
7:00 p.m. with racing beginning promptly at 7:30 p.m. Grandstand ticket
prices are Adults (18 & older) $12.00; Teens (13-17) $8.00; Children (6-12)
$4.00; and Children (5 & under) are free.
SSP will continue its Repeat Fan Discount in which there will be a $2.00
discount for each person with a ticket stub from the July 24 and July 28 events
only. For example, $2.00 off an Adult ticket for August 4 with and Adult
ticket stub from the July 24 and July 28 event. Returning fans are encouraged
to write their name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be
entered into special drawings during the season for great prizes. Last
season, the grand prize was two tickets for the October NASCAR race at the Lowe’s
Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina. Pit pass prices are $20.00 with
a reduced price of $18.00 for all track license holders.
The Susquehanna Speedway Park is located off I-83 to exit 32, then 1.4 miles

- The Super Sportsman at SSP culminates with the Inaugural 75-lap Trail
Motors Championship on Sunday, September 4, paying $2,500 to the winner. For the
championship race, there will be 12 automatic qualifiers for the event
determined by the winners of the following events: 1) Silver Spring (Sat., May 28 –
Craig Morrow); 2) SSP (Sun., May 29 – Russ Mitten); 3) SSP (Sun., June 5 –
Dave Calaman); 4) Port Royal (Wed., June 15 - Pat Cannon); 5) SSP (Sun.,
June 19 – Rich Eichelberger); 6) Williams Grove (Fri., June 24 – Danny
Hager); 7) Silver Spring (Sat., July 2 – Billy Schoffstall); 8) SSP (Sun., July 3 –
Frankie Herr); 9) Lincoln (Wed., July 20 – Carmen Perigo Jr.); 10) SSP
(Sun., July 24 – Gregg Foster); 11) SSP (Sun., Aug. 7); 12) SSP (Sun., Aug. 21).
The remainder of the field for the championship will qualify through heats
and a last chance race. All Trail Motors Super Sportsman Series events at SSP
will require the use of Hoosier Tires on all four corners with a Hoosier
105/18-15 plated (HTMA or HTE) right rear spec tire.
- The next Sunday night event will be August 7 with Camera and Autograph
Night featuring the Trail Motors Super Sportsman Series along with the Silver
Spring Street Stocks,Four Cylinders and a Road Warrior Construction Race. All
fans will have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers with their cars
on the frontstretch before the feature events.
