SPEEDROME CHAMPIONSHIPS SET FOR THIS WEDNESDAY; YOUNG, EHRGOTT, HAMILTON, PENNINGTON WIN JULY 28

INDIANAPOLIS – A pair of drivers will be crowned champions for the first
time in their USAC careers as the USAC/Speedrome “Thursday Night Thunder”
completes its season Wednesday at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis
Speedrome while a third driver still holds hope for a second title.

Hoosiers Brad Kuhn of Avon and rookie Nick Bohanon of Jeffersonville have
battled throughout the Regional Midget Car Series season and are separated
by 27 points going into Wednesday’s finale. Kuhn is a three-time winner on
the season, while Bohanon, the track record holder in the National Midget
Car Series, has yet to claim victory. The two were Top 5 finishers in last
week’s race, won by Travis Young. The Franklin, Ind. native, in the No. 11
Matlock Ford/BG Products Vogler-White/Ford Fontana, led the final 37 laps of
the 50-lap event. Rex Norris III finished second, ahead of Kuhn, Bohanon and
Andrew Burnett.

Jamie Williams of Columbus, Ind. owns a 46-point advantage over Josh Clemons
of Greenfield, Ind. heading into the final Speedrome Ford Focus Midget Car
Series 50-lapper. Williams, a two-time winner this year, finished third last
Thursday behind winner Ricky Ehrgott and Alison MacLeod. Norris claimed
fourth, followed by Jim Mills. Ehrgott took the lead from Mills on Lap 7 and
led the rest of the way in the No. 9 Rev 1 Power Services/Ehrgott’s Signs &
Stamps Beast/Ford Focus.

Jonathan Hendrick holds an 18-point lead over Brent Beauchamp and a 24-point
edge over defending Kenyon Midget Car Series champion Dakoda Armstrong as
the Kenyon schedule comes to a close. Hendrick extended a slim lead to 18
after back-to-back Top 5 performances in Thursday’s Kenyon doubleheader,
which offered a 20-lap program from the previous week and the weekly 50-lap
feature. Kyle Hamilton of Speedway, Ind. led every lap of the 20-lap race,
besting Jordan Pennington, Miranda Throckmorton, Hendrick and Armstrong.
Pennington came back to score a wire-to-wire win in the 50-lapper, beating
Hendrick, Beauchamp, Thomas Hennigan and Armstrong.
