HARRIS, BARBER TO CONTINUE CALIFORNIA DIRT FOCUS MIDGET
POINTS FIGHT WITH THREE RACES IN FOUR NIGHTS
INDIANAPOLIS – Californians Alex Harris of Simi Valley and Chase Barber of
Morgan Hill have swapped USAC’s two California Ford Focus Midget Car Series
points leads multiple times over the past month, and they’ll have three more
chances this weekend in the Dirt region.
Harris leads Barber by three points heading into Wednesday’s event at
Ventura Raceway in Ventura, Calif. A day of rest ensues before returning to
action Friday at Watsonville Speedway in Watsonville, Calif. and Saturday at
Santa Maria Speedway in Santa Maria, Calif.
Harris and Barber have dominated the two California regions over the past
month, winning five of the last six California Focus Midget features. Harris
is the most recent California Dirt victor, having won at the quarter-mile in
Watsonville, while Barber won the series’ last visit at the 1/5-mile in
Ventura.
While Harris – also the points leader in the California Ford Focus Pavement
Midget Car Series – and Barber are separated by only three points, Audra
Sasselli of Fresno, Calif. remains a vital contender in the points chase.
The early leader in both California divisions sits only 36 points out of the
lead going into the three-race stretch.
