Mitsubishi Motors sues 7 former execs over car defect coverups

TOKYO — July 31, 2005; Japan Today reported that Mitsubishi Motors Corp. on Friday filed a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court seeking 1,135 million yen in damages from its former chairman, Hirokazu Nakamura, and six other former executives over a series of defect coverups and vehicle recalls, the company said.

The automaker claims the seven were responsible for the problems as they failed to deal with them appropriately as corporate executives. (Kyodo News)
