IndyCar Series Driver Bryan Herta Wins the Firestone Indy 400

WASHINGTON, July 31 -- Bryan Herta, the driver of XM Satellite Radio's IndyCar Series race car, today won the Firestone Indy 400 in Brooklyn, Michigan.

Herta, who drives the No. 7 XM Satellite Radio Dallara/Honda/Firestone, held off his Andretti Green Racing teammate Dan Wheldon by 0.0374 of a second -- the 11th closest finish in IndyCar Series history.

Prior to Sunday's win, Herta won his third pole position of the 2005 IndyCar season during Saturday's qualifying at the Michigan International Speedway.

"We couldn't be more proud of Bryan for his fantastic win today at the Firestone Indy 400," said Hugh Panero, President and CEO of XM Satellite Radio. "Bryan and the Andretti Green Racing team did an outstanding job, from the first lap all the way to the winner's circle. We want to congratulate everyone at Honda IRL Racing for today's big victory."
