Team CKN second in F1-K enduro
Daniel Morad and Frank Launi podium in F1-K enduro
MOSPORT, ONTARIO www.canadiankartingnews.com/ russbondagency.com fielded a
team in the F1-K enduro held as par of the OKRA GrandNationals at Mosport
on Saturday. The team consisted of RBA drivers Frank Launi and Daniel
Morad. Launi moved from fifth on the grid to third, when he came into the
pits under direction from team manager Russ Bond.
"We called Frank in because we thought the pits were open but they
weren't," Bond said. "It was my call, my mistake, and it cost us a 'bear'."
Launi drove through the pit lane and rejoined the track in fourth. At the
scheduled pit stop, he handed over to Daniel Morad, who came out in second
place. Morad pushed hard to catch the leaders but came up six tenths of a
second short.
"They probably would have won if I hadn't called them in at the wrong
time," Bond said. "But I really want to thank Frank and Daniel for giving
it their best to win CKN a bear."
Both CKN drivers were impressed with the speed of the F1-K karts. "These
karts are very good," said Morad. "I was really comfortable in one in just
a few laps oh, and their fast too."
Launi was impressed with the power of the Maxter engine. "The motor pulls
really well, and the CRG chassis is well balanced."
Both drivers were also happy to race as part of the CKN/RBA team. "Russ
knows a lot of good drivers, and for him to pick us to represent CKN was
cool," Launi said. "I hoped we could have won a bear for CKN, and we would
have if Russ had stayed in the stands....." Morad added with a grin.
