NHRA O'REILLY AUTO PARTS CHAMPIONS CROWNED 

	MORRISON, Colo. - Eight individual champions along with Team
Champions Inyokern Dragstrip where crowned today at the NHRA O'Reilly
Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League Western Conference Finals.
	Inyokern Team #2 took home the championship gaining 30 points
from its team members while Bandimere Speedway Team #1 grabbed second
with 27 points and Texas Motorplex was third with 26 points. The team
from Inyokern will split $3000 in U.S. Savings Bonds while Bandimere
will receive $2000 and Texas $1,000 (both in U.S. Savings Bonds).
	Leading the individual honors was Cory Lyn Wojdak of Chatsworth,
Calif., in the 16-17 year old category with a win over Thomas Redding
Jr. The Borona 1/8th Mile Drags racer clocked in at 8.042 seconds at
78.62 mph to Redding's 8.287, 78.25 mph. Kristie Thompson grabbed the 15
year old win taking out Robert Roper with a 7.965 second pass at 79.97
mph. Thompson, from Wildomar, Calif., runs for Inyokern Dragstrip and
was runner-up at this event 2 years ago.
	Leading the boy winners was 14 year old Matt Cooper running for
Thunder Valley Raceway Park with an 8.275 second run at 73.31 mph over
Chris Gowan of Sheridan, Colo. Zack Hord out of Kansas City and Jimmy
Morosan from Baldwin, Calif., took the trophies in the 13 and 14 year
old classes respectively. Hord held off Chris Rowe with an 8.431 second
pass at 76.46 mph while the California Dragway racer Morosan ran 9.186
seconds at 65.28 mph to beat out Alyssa Leath of Costa Mesa, Calif.
	Running for TSM Raceway, Taylor Strange beat Gabrielle Guliano
of Bakersfield, Calif., in the 11 year old group with an 8.994 second
pass at 75.71 to Guliano's 8.861, 72.23 mph. 
	Rounding out the winner's circle were Jesse Cantrell taking the
10 year old win over Austin Ostler and Casey Tehle from IMSP won the 
8-9 year old class over Chase Birch. Cantrell runs for Texas Raceway who
took home the Team Spirit Award and ran 9.187 seconds at 68.59 mph.
Tehle clocked in at 12.948 seconds at 48.30 mph.
	A total of $98,000 in U.S. Savings Bonds was awarded this
weekend to more than 64 competitors. ESPN2 will air coverage from the
event on
