COUNTRY MUSIC AND NASCAR JOIN FORCES TO HELP CHARITIES

Inaugural Nextel Sound and Speed Presented By Sun Trust, 

a Motorsports and Music Celebration Will Bring Thousands to Music City
in January

 

 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - NASCAR(r) drivers Kyle Petty, Richard Petty, Tony
Stewart, Michael Waltrip, Sterling Marlin and Country Music artists
Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Trace Adkins, Chely Wright, Jo Dee Messina,
Diamond Rio, Kenny Rogers and many more will descend on the Music City
in January 2006 to raise funds for the Victory Junction Gang Camp and
The Country Music Hall of Fame(r) and Museum charities. The inaugural
Nextel Sound and Speed Presented by SunTrust, a Motorsports and Music
Celebration will be held January 13 and 14, 2006 in Nashville. Honorary
co-chairs NASCAR(r) driver Kyle Petty and Country Music star Vince Gill
will welcome some of NASCAR and country music's top stars to the Music
City. 

 

"It is exciting to see the collaboration of such tremendous talents from
country music and NASCAR come together on behalf of two worthy
charities, Victory Junction Gang Camp and Country Music Hall of Fame and
Museum," said co-chair Kyle Petty. "Nextel Sound & Speed presented by
SunTrust is an opportunity for fans to have fun and do something good at
the same time."

 

The festival tickets are $20 each and are on sale through Ticketmaster
and at the Sound and Speed website, www.soundandspeed2006.com

a star-studded concert for an additional $30 ticket. Each ticket comes
with a complimentary subscription to Country Weekly. Attendees will be
able to interact with drivers and artists and witness the unveiling of
some of the new 2006 race car paint schemes for the upcoming season.
Sound and Speed will also feature a VIP charity auction and benefit
concert.

The Victory Junction Gang Camp is a not-for-profit organization founded
by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie in honor of their son
Adam. Located on 72 acres in Randleman, NC, the camp opened its doors in
2004 to enrich the lives of children with chronic or life-threatening
illnesses by creating camping experiences that are memorable, exciting,
fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound. No child or family
pays to attend camp. Victory Junction provides a place where the kids
can connect with other kids who have like illnesses - a place where the
kids can just be kids and enjoy a full range of fun, pleasure,
