Cruz Pedregon Qualifying Notes From Friday

SONOMA, Calif. (July 29, 2005) Advance Auto Parts Nitro Funny Car driver
Cruz Pedregon started this weekend's NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event
at Sonomaıs Infineon Raceway in the 18th slot.

It is not easy to be outside the field after two runs, but the Advance Auto
Parts team knows they have a good car and are optimistic about tomorrowıs
chances.

³We were a little too conservative during the first pass of the day,²
Pedregon said. ³We clicked off a 5.166-second elapsed time at 281.36 mph
that placed us in the eighth spot. The track got fast as the temperatures
dropped, and we tried to take advantage of the nightıs cooler temperatures.
Unfortunately we were a little too strong and smoked the tires.

³Tomorrow, Wes (Cerny, crew chief) and the Advance Auto Parts team will have
the car ready for a couple of good passes.²
