Johnson Wins at SSP on Thursday Night

JASON JOHNSON CLAIMS  SECOND SSP SPRINT WIN ON THURSDAY 

Newberrytown, PA (July 28,  2005) - Jason  Johnson raced to victory in 
Thursday’s 25-lap Sprint Car feature at Susquehanna Speedway Park.  Jason Rochelle 
won the Legends feature event, Larry Hughes Jr. was  awarded the Xtreme Stock 
feature victory, and Les Scrivens won the Xtreme Stock  Rookie Rumble.  Ken 
Johns drove his  1985 Pontiac Station Wagon to his second One-on-One Street Drags 
 win. 
Johnson scored his first central  Pennsylvania Sprint car win in SSP’s season 
opener this year, but had been shut  out of victory lane here ever since.  He 
started sixth in Thursday feature, and raced by Chad Jumper for the  lead on 
the second lap.  Blane  Heimbach challenged Johnson on numerous occasions, but 
it was Johnson who  claimed the win.  Heimbach had to  settle for second 
place, with Lance Dewease taking third from Fred Rahmer on the  final lap.  Eric 
Stambaugh completed  the top five.  Rounding out the top  ten were Greg 
Hodnett, Chad Jumper, Alan Krimes, Michael Carber, and Matt  Miller.  Heats went to 
Jumper and  Dewease. 
Smoke Christine appeared to have won  the 25-lap Xtreme Stock feature, but he 
was disqualified for refusing the post  race technical inspection, Larry 
Hughes Jr. was awarded his fourth win of the  season.  Mike Goodwin was second  
followed by Sam Rial, Matt Wampler, and Bryon Sipe.  Goodwin also won the Pepsi  
Dash. 
Jason Rochelle charged from the  12th starting spot to win the Legends Cars 
15-lap feature.  Rochelle took the lead from Geremy  Sheaffer on the sixth lap 
and topped his team mate Ronnie Dunstan for the  win.  Sheaffer finished third 
with  Randy Kissinger and Bob Murray in the top five.  Heats went to Dunstan 
and  Kissinger. 
Les Scrivens held off the challenges of  Nate Heindle to win the 15 lap 
Rookie Rumble for the Xtreme Stock Cars.  Scrivens took the lead from last week’s  
winner Matt Newcomber on the second lap.  John Hiden Jr. finished third with 
Newcomber and Rich Lomman in the top  five. 
The next Thursday night race at SSP  will be August 4 featuring the Sprint 
Cars along with the Xtreme Stock Cars, XSC  Rookie Rumble, PENN MAR Vintage Club 
Cars, Mini Van Flag Pole Race and a  Smashmaster Demolition Derby.  If  
needed, a rain date will be announced for this event. 
Gates  open in the pit area and grandstands at 5:00  p.m.   Warm-ups begin at 
7:00  p.m.  with racing beginning promptly at 7:30  p.m.   SSP will continue 
its Repeat Fan Discount in  which there will be a $2.00 discount for  each 
person with a ticket stub from the July 24 and July 28 events only.  For example, 
$2.00 off an Adult ticket  for August 4 with and Adult ticket stub from the 
July 24 and July 28  event.  Returning fans are encouraged to write  their 
name, address and phone number on the back of the stub to be entered into  special 
drawings during the season for great prizes.  Last season, the grand prize 
was two  tickets for the October NASCAR race at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in 
Charlotte, North  Carolina.  Pit pass prices are $20.00 with a reduced price of 
$18.00 for all track  license holders.                                          
 

The next Sunday night event will be August 7 with  Camera and Autograph Night 
featuring the Trail Motors Super Sportsman Series  along with the Silver 
Spring Street Stocks,Four Cylinders and a Road Warrior  Construction Race.  All 
fans will  have the opportunity to meet their favorite drivers with their cars 
on the  frontstretch before the feature events.
