Crosby ready for another first look

Crosby ready for another first look

Eddyville, Ky. – Kim Crosby will be seeing the race track for the first time on Friday when she arrives at Gateway International Raceway. It will be the third time in the last four weeks that Crosby has run at a track she had never seen before.

“It is just something you have to deal with as a rookie driver,” Crosby said. “Sure I usually feel more comfortable at tracks where I’ve run before, but that doesn’t mean I’m not confident everywhere else.

“I’ll try to get on the track before practice with NASCAR and I’ll be sure to pick Mark’s (Green) brain too. I try to find out as much as I can before I actually get on the track because it helps us get up to speed faster.”

Crosby will have to qualify in the #26 Boudreaux’s Butt Paste Chevrolet on time. As 31 positions are set through owner points and a past champion, she will be one18 drivers gunning for the final 12 starting spots.

“Kim’s been doing a great job since she came on board with KCR,” said crew chief Gene Allnutt. “She made a great pickup last week to get in the show and she was driving well before the engine problems cropped up. She knows what she has to do to and she’s determined to do whatever it takes for her to be successful.”

The first practice will be held on Friday at 6:30 p.m. A second practice will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. Qualifying is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. and the race will follow at 7:15 p.m. Qualifying will air on SPEED while the race will air on TNT. All times are central.
