Green shoots for three in a row in St. Louis

Eddyville, Ky. – Mark Green will attempt to qualify in his third consecutive event for Keith Coleman Racing behind the wheel of the #23 BMAR Support Our Troops Chevrolet on Saturday.

Green will be racing the same car he drove the previous two weeks. He finished 27th at New Hampshire International Speedway and 20th in Colorado.

The #23 BMAR Support our Troops Chevrolet is painted in the colors of the American flag and features decals supporting the United States Military.

“It has been a pretty good car for us,” Green said. “Towards the end of the race last week our lap times were right there with the leaders and you can’t ask for more than that.”

Green cited the team’s overall improvement as a reason for his recent success.

“We’ve made some gigantic strides in the last month or so as a team,” he explained. “The cars are getting better, the pit stops are getting faster and you can see that in the results on the track. The rest is up to me.”

But it won’t be an easy task for Green. There are 49 entries for the Wallace Family 250 this week at Gateway International Raceway. With the top 30 teams in owner’s points locked into the field and an additional spot going to a past series champion, Green is one of 18 drivers competing for the 12 remaining starting positions.

“We’re confident,” said crew chief Jeff Schmidt. “We know we’ve got a good car and the pressure of qualifying never seems to bother Mark. I have no doubt that he’ll put us in the race.”

The first practice will be held on Friday at 6:30 p.m. A second practice will be held Saturday at 9:45 a.m. Qualifying is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. and the race will follow at 7:15 p.m. Qualifying will air on SPEED while the race will air on TNT. All times are central.
