ZAP Makes Donation to American Lung Association
Half the Proceeds From eBay Auction for First Public Sale of Smart Car Americanized by ZAP Goes to Clean Air
SANTA ROSA, Calif., July 28 -- ZAP , pioneering the next generation of advanced transportation and energy technologies, announced today that it has fulfilled its commitment to the American Lung Association-Redwood Empire to donate half of the proceeds from its eBay auction for the first Smart Car Americanized by ZAP available to the public.
ZAP CEO Steve Schneider handed over a check for $14,534 to American Lung Association (ALA) officials at ZAP's automobile showroom in downtown Santa Rosa. Bill Zeller, Board Chair for the ALA-Redwood Empire, as well as Executive Director Barbara Beedon and Communications Manager Jenny Bard were on hand to accept the donation.
"For over 100 years the American Lung Association has advocated for clean air locally as well as nationwide," said Zeller. "We are grateful to ZAP for its donation and applaud its efforts towards introducing cleaner vehicle technologies. This donation will assist us in our efforts to help everyone in the Redwood Empire breathe easier."
To make a statement about its business philosophy focused on the environment and advanced transportation, ZAP chose to donate the proceeds of the auction, minus the cost of the sale, equally between its local branch for the American Lung Association and the U.C. Davis Institute for Transportation Studies.
"ZAP is a company on a mission of Zero Air Pollution," said CEO Steve Schneider, "but we can never forget how important it is to give back to the community."
Schneider expressed his appreciation to the winning bidder in the eBay auction for the first publicly available Smart Car Americanized by ZAP, Roberto Hernandez of Arizona, who made the donation possible.
