New Vice President Named at BMW Manufacturing Co.
SPARTANBURG, S.C., July 28 -- Dr. Thomas Arlt has been named Vice President of Logistics and Information Technology at BMW Manufacturing Co. He replaces Manfred Stoeger, who has assumed responsibility for after sales technical services and market development in Munich.
Arlt has most recently been manager of Logistics Product Planning at BMW's Regensburg plant in Germany where he was responsible for supply chain planning, packaging planning, and supply chain quality within all car projects.
He began his career with BMW in September 1996 after receiving a Ph.D. from the Technical University in Munich, Germany. He has held numerous positions within BMW's Regensburg and Spartanburg plants.
Arlt spent 1996 through 1999 at BMW's Regensburg plant in structure planning, Section Manager of Vehicle Control and in Logistics.
In August 1999, Arlt came to BMW Manufacturing Co. to support the X5 launch in the Production Control department. In 2001, Arlt returned to Germany to central Transport Logistics and in 2002, he moved to central Logistics Planning.
He and his wife, Petra, have four children.
