BorgWarner Dedicates New World Headquarters in Auburn Hills
AUBURN HILLS, Mich., July 26 -- Leading global powertrain supplier BorgWarner Inc. today dedicated its new World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
"The establishment of our World Headquarters in metro Detroit is a milestone in BorgWarner's long and distinguished history," said Tim Manganello, BorgWarner Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "BorgWarner strives to make its mark on the auto industry through global powertrain innovation and good community citizenship. Our new headquarters provides an inspiring setting in which to do so. As we dedicate this building today, we also salute the people behind the achievements and successes that will grow from within its walls."
BorgWarner announced in September 2003 that it would relocate its corporate headquarters from Chicago to Auburn Hills. The new headquarters houses 80 corporate employees including the chairman and CEO's office, finance and administration, business development, corporate communications and investor relations, human resources, information technology, and legal/patent. BorgWarner has leased 41,000 square feet of space in the 60,000-square-foot building, which is located at 3850 Hamlin Road at the southwest corner of Hamlin and Adams Roads. The building was designed by Studio B Architects of Birmingham, Michigan and is owned by Etkin Equities, Southfield, Michigan.
A highlight of the new headquarters is the BorgWarner Midwest Art Collection, which the company acquired from 1943 to 1986. The collection is designed to evoke an atmosphere of creativity among those who work around it by fostering new ways of seeing, feeling and thinking. All of the works are by Midwestern artists, reflecting BorgWarner's belief in the importance of cooperative behavior and respect between business and community.
"BorgWarner's record performance in 2004 affirms my view that no other automotive supplier is better positioned for global growth," Manganello said. "We are grateful to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and the people of Auburn Hills and Oakland County for their spirit of cooperation in bringing BorgWarner to the state of Michigan."
