CRA SPRINTS HEAD FOR SKAGIT SPEEDWAY
GARDNER CLOSES ON WILLIAMS WITH PERRIS VICTORY
The Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series heads for Washington
State this weekend for races at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash. Friday and
Saturday nights. A 30-lap feature is slated Friday and a 40-lapper is on
tap Saturday.
Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. trails defending series
champ Rip Williams by 109 points with 148 available this weekend. Gardner
posted his eighth win of the 2005 season and sixth at Perris Auto Speedway
Saturday night, leading the final four laps after passing Williams on lap
27. Williams finished second ahead of Danny Sheridan, Mike Kirby and Mike
Spencer.
Gardner, whose fast qualifying time at Perris was his 14th
this year, won the second of two Skagit features last year, while Cory
Kruseman, USAC's brand-new Valvoline "Indiana Sprint Week" Champion, won
last year's Skagit opener.
