Gregg Foster Claims First Career Super Sportsman Feature at SSP on Sunday
Night

Newberrytown, PA (July 24, 2005) - Gregg Foster raced to his first career
feature win at the Susquehanna Speedway Park in Sunday night’s Trail Motors
Super Sportsman 20-lap feature event. Paul Morgan raced to an exciting victory
in the Street Stock 20 lap event, and Cheryl Howsare won the Women on Wheels
stock car feature. A kid's toy scramble hosted by Santa Claus topped off
the evening for Christmas in July.
In the Trail Motors Super Sportsman main event, Richie Hartman took the
early lead from the outside pole position. Foster, who started sixth began to
pressure Hartman just before the halfway point in the 20 lap event, but didn’t
take the lead until the 13th lap. From that point on Foster held sway over
Hartman to score his first win. Hartman had to settle for second place, with
Scott Ausherman third. Ken Carberry and Steve Wilbur completed the top five.
Rounding out the top ten were Rich Eichelberger, Frankie Herr, Joey biasi,
Jason Fry, and Pat Cannon. Heats went to Wilbur, Foster and Fry.
Morgan chased Gary Welsh for eight laps before taking the lead on the ninth
of20 laps in the Street Stock feature. Once in front, Morgan had to withstand
constant pressure from Kory Sites. Sites took over the top spot on the 19th
lap, but Morgan made a strong inside move on the backstretch of the final
lap to regain the lead and score the win. Sites had to settle for second
followed by Wes Allman, Welsh, and Scott Thunberg. Heats went to Bob Scott Jr.,
Kirby Sites and Paul Morgan. The top three finishers all received bonus
money posted by Morgan’s Place Restaurant in Harrisburg.
Cheryl Howsare took the lead from Beth Buhrman on the second lap and led the
remaining 14 laps to claim her second Women on Wheels stock car feature of
the season. Nancy Horan made a daring last lap move for second place, with
Kendra Knaub, Penny Repp, and Kelly Resh in the top five. Heats went to
Howsare and Knaub.
