Cruz Pedregon Reaches Second Round
Advance Auto Parts Team Satisfied With Seattle Results

KENT, Wash. (July 24, 2005) ­ Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts Nitro
Funny Car made it to the second round during todayıs national event at
Pacific Raceways. The California native reacted quickly when the car got out
of the groove, but the deviation gave Robert Hight enough leeway to beat
Pedregon to the finish line.

Pedregon matched up against John Force in the first round, beating him in a
very close race. Despite Forceıs elapsed time of 4.857 seconds to Pedregonıs
4.863-second elapsed time at 313.44 mph, Pedregonıs reaction time of .098
seconds to Forceıs slower take off at .105 seconds, gave the 1992 Nitro
Funny Car champion the advantage at the finish line.

³We had a few challenges during qualifying,² Pedregon commented. ³Wes Cerny
(crew chief) and the rest of the team did an excellent job tuning up the car
for today. I was very satisfied with our first run against Force as we
recorded the second best elapsed time of the round.

³During the second round, we had the lead until the car pulled to the left
and got out of the groove,² Pedregon added. ³You always wish you could have
done things differently, but we feel we gave Hight a good run.²

Pedregon talked about next weekendıs race at Sonoma.

³We go to Sonoma with a good car,² Pedregon said. ³Weıre very excited about
a new ignition system we have been working on. Also, Infineon Raceway is my
second home track and the Advance Auto Parts team expects to put on a good
performance.²
