Eaton's Cutler-Hammer(R) XT IEC Power Control Provides Complete OEM Solution for the Global Market
PITTSBURGH--July 25, 2005--Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation today announced the release of XT IEC Power Control, a complete family of IEC-compliant industrial control solutions that gives panel builders and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) the ability to deliver their equipment worldwide.Available worldwide through the Eaton distribution channel, the XT line is a complete power control family of products including globally-rated contactors, starters, overload relays, manual motor protectors, and combination motor controllers. Its advanced features address the most pressing demands of today's OEMs - the need for global ratings, smaller products for smaller panels, and easier installation and maintenance. With a variety of operating voltages and ratings, as well as reliable AC and DC control options, XT IEC Power Control supports a wide range of applications that meet global requirements.
"Our OEM customers expect control systems that bring superior efficiency every step of the way - from planning and design through fitting and installation," said Rich Stinson, vice president and general manager of Eaton's Industrial Control Division. "XT IEC Power Control builds on Eaton's strength in electrical distribution to provide industrial OEMs with a control solution that is globally-compliant, compact, easy-to-install, and safety-minded."
Global Compliance
With UL, CSA, CE, and CCC approvals, as well as RoHS compliance, XT IEC Power Control offers OEMs the flexibility to deliver their equipment worldwide. Sold both as open components or enclosed devices, the XT line is designed to be the perfect fit for OEMs around the world. XT packaged control options meet UL, cUL, and CE standards, allowing enclosed XT customers to choose options such as circuit breakers or North American or European fuses.
Smaller Footprint Delivers Flexibility
XT IEC Power Control consumes only 0.5 watts of sealing power and is up to 30 percent smaller than competing designs. Panels can be designed smaller to fit into tight spaces or to add more products into the same enclosure. Even with more product in a panel, low power consumption means less energy and heat to remove from the panel, lowering the cost of cooling requirements. Designed for side-by-side mounting, XT's mechanical interlocking system leaves no space between forward and reversing contactors, leading to smaller panels and enclosures.
Simple Installation and Maintenance
From DIN rail mounting to tool-free wiring link kits to modular combination motor controllers, XT IEC Power Control's advanced features reduce installation time and project management costs. Simple rail mounting gives OEMs the ability to snap devices up to 65A directly on the DIN rail. And by utilizing a DIN rail mounting adapter, combination motor controllers can now be mounted on one rail instead of two, and with fewer wiring hassles upon removal.
Reversing and star-delta (wye-delta) wiring kits come standard with finger-proof wiring links and connectors for error-free, tool-less assembly. The links simply snap into the connectors to form an electrical connection. Furthermore, XT IEC Power Control eliminates the hassle of wiring combination motor controllers (CMCs) by using perfectly matched components that allow CMCs to be plugged together and wired with virtually no tools.
Advanced Safety Features
With IP20 rated terminals, XT IEC Power Control is finger- and back-of-hand proof, giving users an extra level of security during maintenance. It also employs low-voltage DC control from 12-220 volts, thus avoiding the hazards of AC current as well as avoiding the system costs involved with transforming the wide variety of AC input voltages used around the world. Lastly, XT contactors up to 400 amps feature twin terminals with dual sockets. This feature affords a better connection by allowing wires of different sizes to be wired safely to reduce the possibility of arc flash.
