Breakthrough Automotive Hard Drive to Be Debuted at San Jose Grand Prix by Company's Own Engineer and USTCC Race Leader
WHAT: Seagate's recently announced, breakthrough automotive hard drive (EE25 Series) will make its first on-road appearance at the San Jose Grand Prix in a car driven by Dave Brown, the USTCC championship points leader. Brown is also a Seagate engineer. The automotive hard drive is designed to withstand extreme temperatures (-30 degrees to 85 degrees C) as well as high altitude, extreme humidity and other conditions that would cause lesser drives to freeze up, overheat, and fail in the mission of delivering new digital services to automobiles. The EE25 Series is also designed to withstand the constant vibration of an automobile, while streaming navigation, entertainment and other data services. With 20GB, 30GB and 40GB capacities, the drives will bring high-quality AV entertainment services and DVD-free GPS to the car. The EE25 Series hard drive and data system in Brown's 2002 JDM Acura Integra Type-R Car will be equipped with accelerometers and thermocouples to monitor both the car's handling for analysis by Brown's race team, and the hard drive's performance under shock, vibration and temperature extremes during the race to provide Seagate engineers with "real life" data.
