Franchitti Races ArcaEx Car to Second-Place Finish at Milwaukee

FRANCHITTI BATTLES TO SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (July 24, 2005) - ArcaEx driver Dario Franchitti battled the oppressive heat, a slick
race track, and over the final 10 laps, eventual winner Sam Hornish Jr. en route to a second-place finish in
Sunday's running of the Indy Racing LeagueŽ IndyCarŽ Series ABC Supply Co./A.J. Foyt 225 at The Milwaukee
Mile.
Franchitti started the 225-lap event from eighth place and moved into the top five by the 50-lap mark, all
the while fine-tuning the handling of the ArcaEx machine. Residing in fourth place when the caution fell on lap
167, the ArcaEx crew elected not to pit, moving Franchitti into first place. With his most recent fuel stop coming
on lap 130, the Scotsman spent the final 95 laps having to not only fend off competitors, but also be mindful of
his fuel consumption.
Hornish challenged Franchitti over the remaining 10 laps, exchanging the lead twice during that span,
with Hornish eventually taking the win.
Trailing Hornish and Franchitti to the line were Tomas Scheckter in third, Tony Kanaan fourth and Dan
Wheldon in fifth.
The finish elevates Franchitti into a tie for second in the driver points standings with 309 through 10
events, 68 points shy of leader Wheldon.
Next up for Franchitti and the rest of the IndyCar Series teams is the Firestone Indy 400 at Michigan
International Speedway on Sunday, July 31. The event will be televised live by ABC, beginning at 3 p.m. (EDT).
It can also be heard live by XM Satellite Radio subscribers by tuning into Extreme XM, channel 152.

Dario Franchitti, #27 ArcaEx Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
"We were definitely beaten by a better car today; Sam Hornish was just quicker than us. We elected not
to pit during that yellow around lap 165, but I think Kyle Moyer made the right call. We tried our best but just
didn't have quite enough at the end. The ArcaEx crew gave me dynamite pit stops all day. We gave it our best."

Kyle Moyer, General Manager, Andretti Green Racing:
"This was just a typical '27' day. We fought all day long with an OK car and got beat by the best car that
was on the racetrack, but I'll take that right now. The team is coming to life a little bit. We are just getting better
with our luck. I think we are finally getting paid back for having some pretty bad luck earlier in the year."
