Lebanon Valley Speedway: Bachetti Rolls to Big Pay Day at the Valley!

By: Rodney Rescott
July 23, 2005

West Lebanon, NY: A packed house, Saturday night, watched Andy Bachetti
wheel his stout Albreida Waste PMC to victory, and a check worth $5,000.00.
The extra distance race and the big money brought out all the fans to
witness some big block racing excitement, as Snap-On Tools and Madsen
Overhead Doors laid down the fat check to all those who wanted it, and the
#4 of Bachetti was not going to shy away.

As the field took to the speedway behind the Team Goewey pace truck, 40 laps
flashed on the lap counter as the Thoma Tire #55 PMC of the "Kingfish" Mike
King, and the Hough Motors #34R of Russ Reckner brought the field to the
green flag. There was no doubt these two front runners were stout, as they
teamed up and began to check out from the field. But back about 5 rows, the
"Wild Child" Andy Bachetti, was getting his rocket fired-up and was coming
to the front. Right on his heals was the #98 of "Fast" Eddie Marshall
piloting his Marshall Oil Bicknell. Marshall mirrored every move Bachetti
made to get through the field, and shortly, after a few short cautions, and
a couple of starting order discussions, the "Kingfish", and Reckner were on
the radar of Bachetti and Marshall. Around lap 22, Bachetti got around the
"Kingfish", followed by Marshall, and away they went. With nearly a
half-a-track lead from the rest of the field, it was gonna come down to who
got through the lap traffic the best, and this time it was Bachetti, who
never faltered.

The "Wild Child" crossed the line first, picking up the win, and the big
$5,000.00 payoff, thanks to Snap-On Tools, and Madsen Overhead Doors.
Marshall brought his #98 home in second, third was the #74 J.R. Heffner
aboard his new Bicknell, the "Kingfish", Mike King brought his #55 across
the line fourth, and "Hollywood" Guy Sheldon drove his #42 owned by Steve
Devine to an excellent top 5 finish. Hearn, Reckner, Jelley, Stratton, and
Tremont finished out the top 10.

The Sportsman 20 lap feature was just as exciting as the mods, as the crowd
sat at the edge of their seats for the entire event. But the excitement was
over once the checkers fell. When the field crossed the line at the
checkers, it was the #250 of Alan Houghtaling who crossed the line first,
followed by Ed Harkins' #9. Bobby Knipe's #18 was third, Frank Harper's #25
was fourth followed by the #11M of Don Miller. As the #250 of Houghtaling
was being weighed, there was contact on the backstretch between Miller's
#11M and the #25 of Harper. Track officials invoked the 'No Tolerance'
rule, and Miller was relegated to a 16th place finish. While this was being
dealt with, the #250 came up short, as the car was light on the scales,
giving the victory to Ed Harkins. That moved Knipe, who started at the rear
of the field due to a dead battery at the start of the event, in a 2nd place
finish, followed by Harper's #25. Ryan Larkin was awarded 4th, while fifth
went to the #22 of Jeff Watson.

The Pro Stocks put on another 'barn burner' as, yet another, first timer
visited victory lane. Kevin Arnold, aboard his #76 has been in the top 2
and top 3 all season, but just couldn't close the deal, until this past
Saturday night. With Snap-On Tools and a packed house on hand, he finally
got it done, and captured his first Pro Stock victory. Arnold was hounded
all race by the #77 of Ronnie Jacobsen, who finish 2nd, 3rd was the #54L of
Jimmy Langenback, followed by Rob Yetman and Bob Duzlack.

The Rookies' saw Bill Hammell's #3 visit victory lane. The Pure Stocks also
put on an excellent show for the fans as the 1st was captured by Larry
Ball's
#64p. Pure Stock #2 was won by the #93 of Jay Casey. P.S. #3 was captured
by the #78 of Pete Wiegand, and the #92 of Mike Eichstedt captured the Pure
Stock #4 event.

Next week, Lebanon Valley Speedway, and Sheldon Oil Service present the
"Kids Pit Party". So bring the kids and your autograph Sharpies, as the pit

gates open up for the kids to get to meet their favorite drivers, and see
the cars "up close and personal"! Big Boys' Toys and CLS Transportation
will be on hand to present a full racing program, as the gates open at 5pm,
Pit Party around 6pm, and racing starts at 7pm.

The Outlaws are coming, Late Model style! For information, visit
