Cruz Pedregon Maintains 11th Position
Advance Auto Parts Driver Ready For Sunday

KENT, Wash. (July 23, 2005) ­ Cruz Pedregon and the Advance Auto Parts Nitro
Funny Car will go into Sundayıs eliminations in the 11th spot at Pacific
Raceways for the 18th annual NHRA Nationals. Pedregon logged on a
4.858-second elapsed time at 314.17 mph., during Fridayıs first pass.

³Unfortunately we dropped a cylinder during the second run and did not take
advantage of last nightıs cool conditions,² explained Pedregon. ³Still, the
Advance Auto Parts team has put on two strong runs. I am confident that Wes
Cerny (crew chief) will take the data we gathered from those runs and make
the best calculated guess to have the car ready for tomorrow.²

During Sundayıs elimination Pedregon will face an old contender, John Force.
So far this year, Pedregon and Force have faced each other twice. Pedregon
beat Force at Bristol during the first round and lost in the semifinals in
Atlanta.
