WISE LEADS MIDGETS TO MILWAUKEE
JULY 18, 2005
Josh Wise of Riverside, Calif., hoping to follow the recent
success of his car owner, NASCAR star Tony Stewart, leads the USAC National
Midget Car Series to the Milwaukee Mile in Wisconsin this weekend.
Wise holds a 67-point lead over defending series champion
Bobby East in the latest standings, and with 66 points available at
Milwaukee Wise is assured of retaining the lead.
Wise has eight “top-10” finishes in nine races this year in
his Mopar/Vital Express Beasts, including victories on the pavement at
Toledo, Ohio and on the dirt at Beaver Dam, WIs.
A 30-mile feature is on tap at the 1-mile paved oval,
scheduled to start at 2 pm Saturday. Practice and qualifying are slated
Friday. J.J. Yeley, winner of last year’s Milwaukee Midget race, holds the
1-lap track qualifying record of 127.384 mph set last year, the first
appearance of the USAC Midgets at Milwaukee since 1993.
The Indy Racing League’s ABC Supply A.J. Foyt 225 racing
weekend at Milwaukee also includes the Weld Racing Silver Crown Series,
which will compete in a 100-miler race at 4:30 pm Saturday.
