Nissan to boost output, make new subcompact in Mexico

TOKYO July 18, 2005; Japan Today reported that Nissan Motor Co. will invest 5 billion yen to upgrade its Mexican production facilities to increase output and start production of a new subcompact, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Monday.

The report said the Japanese automaker plans to beef up its annual car and truck output capacity to 500,000 vehicles by next year, compared with the current annual output capacity of about 400,000, including 300,000 passenger cars. (Kyodo News)
