WINNER'S CROWNED IN DELMAR

	DELMAR, Del. - After two days of rain delays, racers took to
eliminations and champions were crowned at this weekend's NHRA Northeast
Division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at U.S. 13 Dragway.
	In Comp Eliminator it was division point's leader Tony
Stephenson of Willow Spring, N.C., out running No. 1 qualifier John
Frech with an 8.009 second pass at 164.11 mph to Frech's 8.245 second,
158.22 mph lap.
	Alan Billings of Milford, Del., used a starting-line advantage
to take the win in Super Street over William Nycz of Woodstown, N.Y.
Billings ran 10.887 seconds at 126.61 mph to Nycz's quicker but loosing
10.885 seconds, 122.78 mph.
	Maryland racer Jimmy Jones took the honors in Super Comp running
8.908 seconds at 163.36 mph to win over defending event champion Tom
Dauber with an 8.903, at 167.41 mph. David Steltz rounded out the super
class winners with a victory over George Smith in this '38 roadster.
Steltz ran 9.928 seconds, 146.81 mph for the Super Gas win.
	The Super Stock crown went to Tom Sheehan of Belle Vernon, Pa.,
running 10.507 seconds at 108.64 mph while Don Pires Jr. won in Stock
Eliminator over Jim Boudreau of Tewksbury, Mass., with an 11.822 second
trip at 108.60.
The Northeast Division racers head to Maple Grove Raceway for the next
NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event, August 5-7.
