Tony Pedregon Grabs 12th Qualifying Position
Q Racing Nitro Funny Car Prepares for Sunday

MORRISON, Colo. (July 16, 2005) ­ Tony Pedregon took his Q Racing Nitro
Funny Car to the 12th qualifying position for tomorrow¹s running of the
Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.

Pedregon logged a 4.951-second elapsed time at 289.32 mph during the first
session, which held through today¹s qualifying. The California native talked
about his fourth and final run today (5.01 seconds), which he felt was the
most complete of the weekend.

³We thought we could have made a better run,² said the 2003 POWERade Funny
Car World Champion. ³But I feel like that will help us for tomorrow. We made
it down the track and the information we received was invaluable.

³These cars have advanced so much this past year that a lot of the data we
had from last year has been a little outdated,² Pedregon continued. ³It¹s
been difficult to get the clutch and timing where it should be, so we¹ve
been burning some pistons this weekend.²

Pedregon will face off against No. 5 qualifier Del Worsham in round one
tomorrow.
