FRECH ON TOP OF RAIN SHORTENED QUALIFYING AT U.S. 13

	DELMAR, Del. - Qualifying continued for this weekend's NHRA
Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series at U.S. 13 Dragway with John Frech leading
the Comp Eliminator field with a pass of 8.202 seconds, 0.538 seconds
under the index. The Warren, Ohio, racer is followed by Vinny Barone and
Stephen Szupka in second and third respectively with Barone clocking in
at 8.027, 0.513 under and Szupka at 8.237, 0.513 under.
Dennis Steward held on to the top spot in Super Stock running 10.343
seconds, 1.157 seconds under and is followed by Angelo Ditocco in second
with a 9.949 second lap, 1.151 seconds under.
Cecil Frazier and Steven DeRosa joined the other No. 1 qualifiers with
Frazier leading the Stock Eliminator class with an 11.677 second pass
and is followed by Bill Hawk from Manassas, Va., in second. DeRosa is on
top in Top Sportsman running 7.049 seconds at 198.76 mph, followed by
Scott Cozzali in second at 7.375 seconds, 186.25 mph.
	In Friday night action, Bob Lascak knocked off Mike Himes in
Supercharged Warriors action with a 7.918 second pass at 157.59 mph.
Himes ran too quick with a 7.744 second pass on a 7.80 second index.
	Ken Moses grabbed the win in open-wheel Bad 8 with a 7.441
second, 173.51 mph pass over Jeff Szilagyi running a 7.516 seconds. In 
full-body Bad 8 it was WR Ketterman of Salisbury, Md., in his '99
Corvette running 8.532 seconds to win over Matt Ticconi out of Milton,
N.Y., with a 9.228 second pass at 148.17 mph.
Racing continues Sunday at 11 a.m. with Comp Eliminator taking the track
at 12:30 p.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. Tickets are $12 for general
admission and $18 with a pit pass.  For more information, call US 13
