Drive for Diversity(SM) Launches 2006 Recruiting Efforts
Experienced drivers wanted for NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series; Crew program seeks talented candidates for training and placement
CHARLOTTE, N.C., July 15 -- Drive for Diversity(SM) is now formally accepting applicants for the third season of its driver and crew member development program.
Resumes and information from experienced ethnic and gender minority drivers, as well as interested ethnic and gender minority pit crew candidates can now be submitted for consideration within the 2006 season. Interested candidates are invited to provide relevant materials to Access Marketing & Communications now through Aug. 31, 2005. Selected applicants will be invited to participate in testing and evaluation events this fall, hosted by Access Marketing & Communications.
"We are trying to find talented ethnic and gender minority race fans from all walks of life. We are excited to offer this opportunity to candidates who have been interested in 'going over the wall,' but didn't see a way to realize their dream -- well, here is a phenomenal chance," said Greg Calhoun, President/CEO of Access Marketing & Communications which operates the Drive for Diversity program. "We have enjoyed two seasons with tremendous people -- team partners, program partners, drivers, crew members and a whole new audience of race fans. We expect even greater things to come during the 2006 season," he concluded.
Drivers will have the opportunity to exhibit their skills before established NASCAR team owners in an effort to receive an opportunity to compete in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series throughout the 2006 season. Drivers who have demonstrated their skill and have experience in grassroots racing will be considered.
For the crew program, athletic skill and tactical ability will be considered key qualities for "over the wall" pit crew members, as candidates will be training for live pit action in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and NASCAR Busch Series events. Crew candidates will be invited to participate in an initial informational session and interview for the opportunity to be invited to attend a crew evaluation combine. Selected crew candidates will then receive "over the wall" pit crew training and instruction from 5 Off 5 On Race Team Performance, with placement opportunities among various NASCAR Series teams.
Drive for Diversity is a long-term initiative aimed at developing a steady pipeline of well-trained and supported ethnic and gender minority drivers and crew members. This season, the Drive for Diversity team is comprised of eight drivers, all competing for established NASCAR team owners in the NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series and NASCAR Grand National Division - West Series. Drive for Diversity has achieved several exciting milestones in 2005, including the program's first graduate (Morty Buckles), the first Late Model Stock Car victory (Allison Duncan at Stockton 99 Speedway) and the first pole position (Michael Gallegos at Caraway Speedway)!
Interested drivers and crew members should send resumes, videotapes, on-track photos, race results, references and other supporting materials to: 1435 W. Morehead St., Suite 170; Charlotte, N.C. 28208.
