Alpine Ships New Entry-Level DVD Head Unit

DVA-9860 Receiver Delivers Superior Multi-Channel Capabilities, Multiple
Media Playback Options

TORRANCE, Calif., July 12, 2005 The popularity of in-car multi-channel
sound systems is on the rise, yet this premium choice has not been available
as an option from most car makers. To counter this dilemma, Alpine
Electronics of America, Inc., is now shipping an affordable aftermarket
solution: its new DVA-9860 DVD receiver with 5.1 multi-channel sound
outputs.

The DVA-9860 in-dash DVD/CD/MP3/WMA/AM-FM head unit offers powerful
multi-channel playback capabilities with integrated Dolby® Digital and DTS®
output for breathtaking audio clarity and depth. Sound customization is
elevated to the next level with Alpine¹s exclusive Bass Engine??? technology,
which allows for time correction for specialized sound placement and tuning
of the parametric EQ for refined sound. BBE processing provides natural
music realism.

³There aren¹t choices for building a multi-channel system in the car at the
OEM level, which leaves the consumer only with complicated and expensive
options,² said Stephen Witt, vice president, Brand Marketing, Alpine
Electronics. ³Now, the DVA-9860 offers an affordable opportunity for
consumers to create a high-performing multi-channel sound system that can be
personalized to any need.²

The DVA-9860 is compatible with virtually every type of media source for
outstanding playback and music storage flexibility. It supports DVD-Video,
DVD-R/RW, CD-R/RW and V-CD formats, and offers built-in support for MP3 and
WMA playback. The latest Alpine features, including second-generation Ready
for iPod and Satellite Radio Ready options, provide consumers with a vast
library of entertainment choices.

The DVA-9860 can serve as the heart of a simple multi-channel system. This
system can be achieved by pairing it with Alpine¹s MRA-F350 amplifier, which
is a digital processor with a built-in five-channel amplifier. The consumer
would then add one mono amplifier, a subwoofer and a center-channel speaker,
then use their factory speakers to complete a multi-channel system.
