SCOTT'S THIRD-PLACE AT KENTUCKY LEADS CAROLINA/VIRGINIA
CONTINGENT AS SERIES TAKES THREE-WEEK HIATUS
USAC Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car Series points leader Chase
Scott of Concord, N.C. was the highest finisher Saturday in the series’
combined race with the Midwest series at Kentucky Speedway, and will
continue to lead the series after a three-week hiatus.
Scott finished third on the quarter-mile oval inside the 1.5-mile
superspeedway, behind winner Derek Fisher and second-place runner Stephanie
Mockler. Midwest regulars James Robertson and points leader Tate Martz were
fourth and fifth. Fisher won in the No. 97 Keith Kunz Motorsports Vital
Express Bullet.
Other Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus drivers who competed and placed in the
Top 10 were Gary Winters (ninth) and Sam Beam (10th). Lindsey Trausch, Ginny
Quinones and Robbie Ray also competed at Kentucky.
With his third-place finish, Scott owns a 52-point lead over Ray heading
into the July 29 Carolina/Virginia Focus race at Tri-County Motor Speedway
in Hudson, N.C. Scott won the only other series event at Hudson this year.
