KUHN, WILLIAMS, CLAUSON WIN THURSDAY AT SPEEDROME

The “Thursday Night Thunder” midget series had a Hoosier flavor last
Thursday as drivers Brad Kuhn of Avon, Jamie Williams of Columbus and Bryan
Clauson of Noblesville all took the checkered flags during the weekly
USAC/Speedrome series at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome.

USAC Regional Midget Car Series point leader Kuhn, seeking his first USAC
championship, led the final 17 laps in the No. 74 Steve Kuhn Sander
Engineering/K&N Filters Beast/Ford. Kuhn passed fellow USAC National Midget
Car Series regular David Gough on Lap 34 of the 50-lap event. Gough finished
second, ahead of Mel Kenyon, Nick Bohanon – who had spun earlier in the
night – and Travis Young. Kuhn’s point lead now sits at 21 over Bohanon.

Williams, who led the season opener in the Speedrome Ford Focus Midget Car
Series, stretched his points lead in the series following his near
flag-to-flag victory. Williams led all but one lap of the race, falling
behind John Mount on Lap 21 as the field maneuvered through traffic. But
Williams, who led the opening 20 laps, got back by Mount on Lap 22 and led
the rest of the way in the No. 67 Cline & King – Asthetic Hair
Design/Kenyon/Ford Focus. Following Williams were Josh Clemons, James
Robertson, Mount and Kevin Studley. Williams owns a 44-point lead over
Clemons.

Clauson, the 2005 win leader in the USAC Kenyon Midget Car Series with four,
earned that fourth victory with a hard-fought effort in the No. 7c Armstrong
Farms/Bunge Kenyon/Yamaha. Clauson, who started toward the back of the
field, moved to second by the midway point and trailed Jordan Pennington for
a lap before passing the Mishawaka native on Lap 28. From there, he was
never headed, and earned a straightaway advantage over Pennington, defending
series champion Dakoda Armstrong, points leader Jonathan Hendrick and Brent
Beauchamp. Hendrick gained only three points on Beauchamp in the series
standings, and leads the Fairland, Ind. native by six markers.

The next edition of “Thursday Night Thunder,” presented by Traderindiana.com
and Wheels & Deals, at the Blossom Chevrolet Indianapolis Speedrome, comes
this Thursday, July 14.
