WESTERN MIDGETS HEAD FOR VENTURA SATURDAY
GARDNER/PEDREGON TEAM SURPRISES BAKERSFIELD MIDGET FIELD!
Robby Flock of Murrieta, Calif. hopes to continue his drive to
a fifth USAC Western Midget Car championship when the series resumes this
Saturday night at the Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. A 30-lap feature is slated
on the action-packed 1/5-mile dirt oval. The USAC California Dirt Ford
Focuses are also on the night's card.
Flock leads Garrett Hansen by 88 points and finished third in
last Saturday night's 30-lapper at Bakersfield Speedway.
Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car veteran Damion Gardner of
Concord, Calif. teamed with car owner and NHRA star Cruz Pedregon to win
the Bakersfield race, leading all 30 laps to beat Jerome Rodela, Flock,
Stephen Graves and Chris Rahe. Bradley Galedrige was Saturday's fastest
qualifier.
The win was the first for Gardner in the series, who has won
seven times in this year's USAC/CRA Sprint car series.
Cory Kruseman and Ryan Kaplan have won the two USAC Western
Midget races held at Ventura so far this season.
