Gas Prices Reach Record, Hit $2.33 a Gallon
Washington DC July 11, 2005; The AIADA newsletter reported that the national average for regular unleaded gasoline soared to a new record during the 4th of July holiday, reaching $2.33 a gallon, reports The Associated Press. The $2.33 national average just surpassed the prior record of $2.32 set in April this year. Trilby Lundberg, who publishes the semimonthly Lundberg Survey of 7,000 gas stations around the country, noted that demand for gasoline was up 2.5 percent compared to last June, despite the rise in pump prices. Lundberg said, a stronger economy made the price "more absorbable" for consumers.
