Terry Borcheller - Infineon (Sears Point) preview
momentum!
Terry Borcheller returns to his racing alma mater this week buoyed by past
success. The Gainesville, Ga., driver attended his first driving school at
Sears Point (now Infineon) Raceway in 1989 and went on to score two pole
positions, two wins and five podium finishes on the 2.53-mile Sonoma,
Calif., road course.
Borcheller also carries the momentum of his last American Le Mans Series
race, at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut on July 4, when he finished third in
the GT1 class and fifth overall. He is hoping for another strong finish in
the ALMS race at Infineon Raceway on July 17.
"I had raced go-karts for 10 years and never gone to any type of school,"
Borcheller recalled. "The first training I ever had was at Sears Point in
'89, when the Bondurant School was there. I've loved the track ever since. I
felt like I gained some insight because of the instructors I worked with,
and I never lost my love for the race track."
test results
Borcheller is also enthused about the development of the Saleen S7R that he
drives in the ALMS. He believes recent testing will show in the California
race.
"I'm very excited to see the progression of all our testing. We didn't have
enough time to introduce all the assets from the testing at Lime Rock, but
those changes should definitely be an asset at Sears Point," he said.
