IT'S INDIANA SPRINT WEEK XVIII!!!

Just Added -- AUTHORS' NIGHT TOO

JULY 15, 2005

CAN THE USAC REGULARS STOP BRISCOE?

(Bloomington, Ind. - July 10, 2005) Major sporting events are a lot like fine wine. It takes a while for them to mature. Indiana Sprint Week is set for its 18th running; and Bloomington Speedway has been an integral part of the series each year.

Bloomington Speedway's leg of Indiana Sprint Week will be run on July 15.

As an added attraction our fans will have an opportunity to meet the authors of some great racing books and get them signed as well. On hand will be:

Dave Argabright -- Still Wide Open, Hewitt's Law, Earl

The American Scene

Bob Gates -- Vukovich, Hurubise

John Mahoney -- Full Tilt

Mike O'Leary -- Outlaw Sprint Car Racing

Because of the usually careful track preparation at Bloomington, it is a favored stop for most of the series competitors. They know that, if they have done their job, they can win at Bloomington Speedway. A good heavy track will allow a well-prepared car to come from the back of the pack to victory.

Dick Gaines II has three sprint car feature wins this season at Bloomington Speedway while Kent Christian and Kevin Briscoe each have one. However, Indiana Sprint Week is sanctioned by USAC; and they can be depended upon to bring in literally dozens of racers capable of finding their way to victory lane. Leading the USAC points now are Jay Drake, Dave Darland, Levi Jones, Josh Wise, Bud Kaeding, Mat Neely, Dave Steele, Bobby East, Jon Stanbrough, and Aaron Pierce. It is interesting to note that three of these drivers raced at Bloomington Speedway on July 1. Darland came home fifth, Stanbrough finished eighth, and Neely just missed transferring to the feature. While the USAC regulars are talented, very well equipped racers, they can still be beaten by the guys who race at Bloomington Speedway every Friday night. Be here to see, first hand, who leaves with the cash in their jeans.

There is one thing that sprint week always means - full pits. Last year, a total of 57 sprinters qualified; and they were the best sprint cars in nation. In addition their will, no doubt, be plenty of O'Neal Wood ProductsMonroe County Pizza Dept. Open Wheel Modifieds on hand as they will be running for $600 to win with proper decals.

Grandstand admission for this special race is only $20 and pit admission is $25. As always at Bloomington Speedway, children 12 and under are admitted free with a paying adult. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers are strictly prohibited. Parking and overnight camping are both free. There are no advanced ticket sales or reserved seating. Pits gates will open at 4:30; and the grandstands will open at 5:30. Hot laps will begin at 6:30.

UMRA TQ MIDGETS

FRIDAY - JULY 22

O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept. Modifieds

Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks

BLOOMINGTON, IN (July 10, 2003) - Bloomington Speedway will host another night of exciting racing action on Friday, July 22. The evening's racing will feature UMRA TQ Midgets, O'Neal Wood Products/Monroe County Pizza Dept. Modifieds, and Tire & Wheel Center Super Stocks.

The UMRA TQ Midgets is one of the most competitive racing series in the nation. Some of its competitors are seasoned veterans who have raced the TQ's for decades. These guys love the cars and love the tough competition that they find in them every time they unload. There are also rookie drivers who are racing the TQ's as a step toward racing a sprint car, a stock car, or even an Indy Car. Whatever their long-term goals may be, their immediate goals are all the same - reaching the checkered flag before their fellows. Watching them race for their goal is what makes this series so popular wherever they race.

Bloomington Speedway is one of the longest track on which UMRA competes; and it will almost certainly be as well prepared as any they've ever seen. They can be expected to rise to the occasion.

Pit gates will open at 4:30 PM, the grandstand gates will open at 5:30 PM, hot laps will start at 6:30 PM, and racing will begin at 7:30 PM. General admission is $10 for this event (children are admitted free to the grandstand when accompanied by a paying adult); and pit admission is $20. Coolers are permitted; but glass containers aren't. Overnight camping is also permitted.
