Unique Performance, Chip Foose and Year One Unveil New Line of Custom 1969 Camaros; Limited Edition Vehicles Launched at Goodguys Nationals in Columbus
DALLAS--July 9, 2005--Unique Performance, Foose Design and Year One will reveal their first line of 1969 Camaro street machines at the 8th Goodguys PPG Nationals on July 9, 2005 in Columbus, Ohio. The industry icons have teamed to build limited edition super cars with designs by Chip Foose based on 1960s era vehicles. One of the 1969 Chevrolet Camaros will be given away at the 10th Annual Goodguys PPG Nationals in 2006."We're excited to introduce the first car born from this new venture," said Douglas Hasty, President and CEO of Unique Performance. "Working with Foose Design and Year One, we're turning one of the most popular muscle cars into a piece of performance art. Our 1969 Camaro features updated styling that is simply stunning, with performance to match. Since only a limited number will be built, they'll be among the most exclusive cars in the world."
The first Foose designed Camaro is a 1969 model clad in Dupont's Hot Hues(TM) Hugger Orange and pewter with a black interior. The car is as ferocious as it is sexy thanks to a GM Performance 572 c.i.d 620 HP V8 mated to a TKO 5-speed. The Camaro features a Chris Alston front subframe, Unique Performance Products adjustable rear coilover suspension, 4-wheel Baer disc brakes and Foose 18" wheels with BFGoodrich G-force tires. Styling cues include Foose badges, custom design and special graphics.
"My goal was to design something truly special for our first car," stated Chip Foose. "We chose the '69 Camaro because many believe it was the high mark for American muscle cars. To create a fresh, new look, I added styling cues such as a custom RS style front grill and hood, Jaguar door handles and smooth bumpers. From the custom valance to the extended rockers, there's nothing on the road like it."
The roots for this exciting program began when Foose was bombarded with requests to recreate his stunning one-off vehicles. The venture allows him to design new cars that Unique Performance can build with parts assistance from one of its development partners, Year One.
Year One, Inc. is the country's premier provider of restoration and performance parts and accessories for domestic performance vehicles. Located in a 180,000-square-foot facility in Brasselton, Georgia, Year One has 15 catalogs in print covering muscle cars, late-model performance cars, Corvettes and GM pickups, as well as three Web-exclusive catalogs that service domestic enthusiast vehicles. 2006 will see the company's 25th year of operation.
The team will initially rescue vintage vehicles and install the latest wheels, engines, suspensions, transmissions and interiors found in contemporary luxury performance cars. Options will include various colors, a variety of sound systems and the choice of 355 HP ZZ4 motor, 390 HP all-aluminum 6.0L Gen IV Chevrolet LS2 V8 with an optional polished Magna supercharged for 525 HP or 620 H P 572 c.i.d big block V8. Each car will be issued a serial number for documentation.
"The first vehicles to be updated will be 1960s era vintage vehicles," explained Hasty. "They will become world-class muscle cars with the performance to match their stunning new design. The people that attend the Goodguys Nationals understand the value and rarity of quality craftsmanship, which is why we chose to provide one for their Grand Prize Giveaway in 2006."
