Federal-Mogul Receives 2004 SAE Environmental Excellence Award in Transportation

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--July 8, 2005--Federal-Mogul Corporation recently received the 2004 Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Environmental Excellence in Transportation (E2T) Award for an Air Injection Control System. The award was given for the Stationary Energy and Emissions category.

The Air Injection Control System provides effective control of Carbon Monoxide and Hydrocarbon emissions from an engine test facility without the addition of costly equipment or consumption of additional natural resources.

"This recognition is a testimony to Federal-Mogul's drive for innovation and quality excellence," said Ray Quatrochi, executive director, technology, for Federal-Mogul. "The project is another example of challenging the norm and using existing technologies to solve new problems. We are proud to be recognized for our work on preserving the environment."

The contributors to the winning control system are Team Leader Terry Walter, manager, technical services; Quatrochi; Tony Lafata, engine test coordinator, technical services; the Federal-Mogul Plymouth Technical Center Engine Test Staff, and Del Rector of NTH Consultants, Ltd.

Award recipients were selected by the SAE Environmental Excellence in Transportation (E2T) Award Committee and announced at the SAE Government/Industry meeting held in Washington, D.C. Award winners were judged based on their innovation and originality, along with their favorable impact on the environment, including improvement over existing technologies, methods and public acceptance. Established in 2000, the award recognizes individuals who, through their ingenuity and dedication, make significant innovations in reducing the environmental impact caused by the transportation industry.

Recognized as a unique solution to environmental problems, Federal-Mogul's Air Injection Control System also received the MAEP (Michigan Association of Environmental Professionals) Environmental Excellence Award.
