Devens Ready to Follow Peru's Example This Weekend

in The Tire Rack(r) SCCA Solo National Tour

TOPEKA, Kan. (July 8, 2005) - Coming off a Peru, Ind., event that
featured a record 398 competitors, The Tire Rack(r) SCCA Solo National
Tour keeps up a full head of steam this weekend as it plows into Devens,
Mass., for the first time in National Tour history.

Excitement and anticipation are high with the new location, as many new
names are on the entry list for this weekend's tilt, ready to take on
other, more familiar soloists.

A couple of regular competitors are in B Stock, as Keith Casey, of
Somerset, Mass., in his Rallydecals.com 2004 Mazda RX8, and Ralph Elder,
of Folsom, Calif., in his 2000 Honda S2000, are ready to duke it out
against each other and the rest of the B Stock field at the Moore Army
Airfield.

Also ready to slug it out at the Airfield is Darrin DiSimo, of Coral
Springs, Fla., in his 1999 Mazda Miata. As the entry list stands
currently, it's a safe bet that a Miata will take the class win
considering it's the only model entered in the class.

Ron Bistrais, of West Windsor, N.J., earned his highest finish ever at
The Tire Rack(r) SCCA Solo National Championships last season in Topeka
with a fourth-place showing in F Stock, and he is set to show his skills
this weekend in that class in his Evolution 1997 Chevrolet Camaro.

The always competitive Mini of Charleston/Miniusa.com/Helix Minisports
2005 blue Mini Cooper S owned by Jeff Jacobs, of Philadelphia, Pa., is
ready for action, as Jacobs, and long-time co-driver Mark Chiles, of
Rocky Mount, N.C., are once again entered in G Stock.

One of the most respected names in all of autocrossing has the chance to
play near home this weekend as Mark Daddio, of Beacon Falls, Conn., is
signed on to compete in Street Modified in a 2005 Mitsubishi Evolution
VIII. The eight-time national champ will have his hands full in a class
that features 16 drivers in all, but by weekend's end should be near the
top of the list.

Though full, the SM class isn't the largest as that distinction goes to
Super Stock, which boasts 21 entries for this Tour stop. One of those
who could emerge on top of the SS mountain is Brian Conners, of
Philadelphia, Pa., who is driving a 2005 Lotus Elise. While he hasn't
ever won a national title, Connors has taken part in the last three
Championships in Topeka, which means his experience level is near the
top in the class and should serve him well.

The Devens event is scheduled to begin with the first of five heats
starting its run on Saturday, July 9, at 9 a.m. Sunday's action takes
off at 8 a.m., followed by an awards ceremony following the completion
of the last heat.
