TriMas Corporation's Cequent Group to Close Albion Facility, Transfer Products to Tekonsha, Mich. and Reynosa, Mexico
BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich., July 7 -- TriMas Corporation today announced that Cequent Transportation Accessories Group, an operational unit of TriMas Corporation, plans to discontinue assembly, warehousing and distribution operations at its Cequent Electrical Products plant in Albion, Ind. The company expects to close the facility by the end of September 2005. Products currently assembled in Albion will be transferred to the Cequent Electrical Products facilities located in Tekonsha, Mich. and Reynosa, Mexico.
"Excess manufacturing capacity and very competitive market conditions led to the decision," said Bob Lewis, president, Cequent Electrical Products, Inc. "Our decision to close Albion commenced with the transfer earlier this year of molding operations to TriMas' Rieke Packaging operation in Hamilton, Ind." The closure will impact approximately 60 employees.
