IRL Driver Enge Tests Infineon Raceway on Wednesday
SONOMA, Calif. IRL IndyCar(r) Series driver Tomas
Enge will visit Infineon Raceway for a one-day test session on
Wednesday, July 6.
Enge, who drives for Rockstar Panther Racing, did not participate in the
IRL open test session at Infineon Raceway in April - this test will mark
the first time Enge will pilot an IRL car on the Sonoma Valley road
course.
Enge competed at Infineon Raceway behind the wheel of a Ferrari in the
American Le Mans Series GTS class in 2003, finishing fourth in class
with co-driver Peter Kox. Enge has an extensive racing resume,
including serving as an official test driver for the Jordan Formula 1
team in 2000 and winning the GTS class at the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Enge will compete on the same modified 12-turn, 2.26-mile road course
that will be used in the Argent Mortgage Indy Grand Prix, set for Aug.
26-28. This will mark the first-ever event on a permanent road course in
the 10-year history of the IRL, as well as the first major open-wheel
race in 35 years at Infineon Raceway.
Enge, a native of the Czech Republic, is currently 18th in the IRL
IndyCar(r) Series points standings, with a season-best seventh-place
finish at Richmond International Raceway.
