Volker Mornhinweg to be new Head of Mercedes-AMG GmbH

Stuttgart, Jul 04, 2005 Volker Mornhinweg (45), Vice President for Executive Management Development (EMD) at DaimlerChrysler AG, has been appointed the new Chairman of the Board of Management Mercedes-AMG GmbH in Affalterbach. This decision was made by the DaimlerChrysler AG Board of Management.

Mornhinweg succeeds Hubertus Troska (44), who has taken on the management of the Trucks Europe / Latin America business unit within the Commercial Vehicle Division.

Mornhinweg, a native of Stuttgart, Germany, completed a traineeship as a machinist at what was then Daimler-Benz AG before going on to study Precision Engineering at Esslingen Technical College. He has been working for the company since 1977, and in that time has held various positions within the group, including Nullserie Production, Supplier Parts Planning and Advanced Manufacturing Engineering for Assembly for all Mercedes-Benz products and plants. Before assuming his current position as Vice President for Executive Management Development, Mornhinweg was the Plant Manager of the powertrain plant Berlin-Marienfelde.

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the DaimlerChrysler Group, Mercedes-AMG GmbH is the performance division of Mercedes-Benz. Since 1967, the company has developed from a motor sport and tuning company to a supplier of exclusive high-performance automobiles. The current AMG portfolio consists of 16 models. Mercedes-AMG’s sales have more than doubled from 11,500 vehicles in 2000 to over 20,000 in 2004.
